Mbappé Double Fires France to Impressive 3-1 Win Over Senegal

Kylian Mbappé scored twice as France secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Senegal in their World Cup Group I clash on Tuesday, a result that also saw him become France’s all-time record goalscorer.

Although Senegal started the match with greater intensity and looked the stronger side in the first half, France improved significantly after the break, where their quality and experience ultimately made the difference.

The breakthrough came in the 66th minute when captain Kylian Mbappé found space inside the box and calmly finished to put France ahead after a well-worked attacking move.

France doubled their lead in the 82nd minute when Adrien Rabiot played a precise through ball to substitute Bradley Barcola, who lifted the ball over goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to make it 2-0.

Mbappé then etched his name into French football history in stoppage time with a powerful long-range strike, taking his international goal tally to 58 goals, surpassing Olivier Giroud to become France’s top scorer.

Senegal showed resilience and briefly threatened a comeback when Ibrahima Mbaye scored a brilliant late goal in the 95th minute, dribbling past defenders before firing into the top corner. However, Mbappé immediately responded with another stunning effort from distance to seal the victory.

Senegal had chances in the first half, with Nicolas Jackson and Ismaïla Sarr both coming close, while France struggled to find rhythm despite dominating possession. Sarr also missed a key opportunity just before halftime.

France were denied a penalty in the 58th minute after a VAR review ruled no foul on Mbappé inside the box.

With this win, France continue their strong World Cup campaign, while Senegal showed promise but were ultimately outclassed by the reigning champions in key moments.
