Smriti Mandhana produced a magnificent batting display as India women’s national cricket team defeated the Netherlands women’s national cricket team by 95 runs in the Women’s T20 World Cup on Wednesday.

Mandhana and Shafali Verma laid the foundation for India’s commanding victory with a superb opening partnership of 115 runs, helping their side post a formidable 209-5.

Mandhana and Verma Dominate

Mandhana top-scored with a brilliant 74 off 47 balls, striking 11 fours and a six. Verma provided excellent support with 55 runs, including 10 boundaries, as the Indian openers overwhelmed the Dutch bowling attack.

Their aggressive approach ensured India maintained control throughout the innings and set a daunting target.

India’s Bowlers Complete the Job

Chasing 210, the Netherlands never looked capable of mounting a serious challenge.

Dutch captain Babette de Leede was the top scorer for her side with 28 runs, but wickets continued to fall regularly.

Verma capped off an outstanding all-round performance by claiming three wickets, while Sree Charani starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets to seal a comprehensive Indian victory.

India Maintain Perfect Start

The win gives India consecutive victories at the tournament after their opening triumph against Pakistan, strengthening their position in the competition.


Australia Ease Past Bangladesh

In another match, Australia women’s national cricket team cruised to a nine-wicket victory over Bangladesh women’s national cricket team.

Georgia Voll led the chase with an unbeaten 45 from 32 balls as Australia comfortably reached the target of 78 with more than 10 overs remaining.

Earlier, Bangladesh managed only 77-8, with Sophie Molineux, Kim Garth and Ellyse Perry taking two wickets each.

Australia have now won both of their opening matches in the tournament.


Injury Blow for England

Meanwhile, Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of England’s next two Women’s T20 World Cup matches after suffering a calf strain.

The England captain retired hurt on 48 during her team’s victory over Ireland, and subsequent scans confirmed the injury. She will miss upcoming matches against Scotland and the West Indies, dealing a significant blow to England’s campaign.
