Australia Eye T20 Redemption Against Bangladesh
Australia will look to bounce back from their disappointing One-Day International series defeat when they face Bangladesh in a three-match T20 International series starting in Chattogram on Wednesday.
The visitors lost the ODI series 2-1 after Bangladesh won the opening two matches before Australia secured a consolation victory in the final game. Now, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh is confident his team can produce a stronger performance in the shortest format.
Australia have arrived with a significantly different squad, bringing in several experienced T20 specialists to strengthen the side. Marsh, who missed both the Pakistan series and the Bangladesh ODI series due to injury, returns to captain the team.
“We’ve had a big change in personnel, and the players are excited for this series. It has been a challenging tour, but we are aiming to win the series and play some excellent cricket,” Marsh said.
Fresh Faces and Key Returns
The Australian squad has been boosted by the inclusion of power-hitting batter Tim David and all-rounder Aaron Hardie. Uncapped all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary has also been called up.
Australia struggled against Bangladesh’s pace attack during the ODI series, but Marsh believes the return of experienced T20 players provides better balance and depth to the squad.
He highlighted Tim David’s value to the team, describing him as an experienced player with strong confidence in his abilities.
Bangladesh Face Injury Concerns
Bangladesh, meanwhile, are dealing with fitness concerns ahead of the opening T20.
Captain Litton Das remains doubtful after suffering a muscle tear during the final ODI. Opening batter Parvez Hossain Emon is also being monitored after falling ill with a fever.
Experienced left-handed batter Soumya Sarkar is expected to join the squad as Bangladesh assess their options.
Litton Das expressed optimism about his recovery, saying he feels better and hopes to be available for selection.
